In 1986 I traded an old saxophone for a slightly smashed Gibson Blue Ridge 12 String. The Blue Ridge was supposed to go up against the Martin D Series in both sound and looks although Martin purists will scoff at that.
This guitar needed work and so I had it refinished in a red sunburst, just like Gordon Lightfoot’s only without the fancy pick guard. I just didn’t want to see such a nice, but broken, axe thrown in the dump.
Now the Blue Ridge hangs in my livingroom across for the Hummingbird but I do take it down once and a while and play it like I do my other axes.
