My house has been taken over by Guitar Hero. This video game came under the Christmas Tree and has been the mainstay of recreation here for the entire 12 Days of Christmas (actually 11 so far).
The main item on the screen for this game is an extended guitar neck shown vertically . The song starts and colored markers depicting notes jump down the screen in time with the music. These markers match the note colors and positions of five fret keys on the guitar controller. This controller, in our case, is shaped like a Gibson Explorer. Once the note or note series reach the bottom of the screen the player must play the notes which light up by holding down the button on the fretboard while hitting the white strumming bar on the guitar body. The Rock Meter on the screen will change depending on how many notes the player gets right. The meter is divided into yellow, and green sections and if the Rock Meter drop below the red section, the song will automatically end. And to make the defeat worse the player is booed off the stage by the audience. Successful note hits will add to the player’s score, and by hitting a long series of consecutive successful note hits, the player can increase their score multiplier.
Like Wii, which transcends cultural and age boundaries, Guitar Hero has left the basement and migrated to bars, restaurants and arcades. In fact several bars in the United States are offering Guitar Hero Nights as an alternative to live bands and karaoke.
Guitar Hero is responsible for turning many people onto rock music and inspiring them to learn how to play guitar. This is because it takes a lot of dexterity and coordination to play the game, much like a guitar player would use.
Bands have been reborn by having their songs featured on The Allman Brothers Jessica, from the 1973 album Brothers and Sisters, saw the original album come to life with thousands of new CD’s being sold.
